Since 1897, this tile picture decorates the present Maliehuis at one end of the Maliebaan to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the change of name from tavern 'Het Gulden Vlies' (The Golden Fleece) into 'Het Maliehuis'.

In 1897 is naast de voordeur van het voormalige Maliehuis te Utrecht een tegelplateau aangebracht ter herinnering aan de opening van dit huis tweehonderd jaar eerder, dus in 1697. Dit Maliehuis is thans in gebruik bij SNS Bank.

Het plateau is samengesteld uit 54 tegels (6 x 9) en is afkomstig van de N.V. Haagsche Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg te Den Haag, in bedrijf van 1883 tot 1916.
