Old poster, announcing the ‘Great Crosse Match’ in the city of Bel’œil in 1901 (by courtesy of André Auquier, journalist in the Borinage, who has passed away in 2007). Regrettably nothing is known about these top crosseurs who played in this tournament, or who the winners were.

To get an impression of the value of the jackpot it is interesting to make a comparison with the wages of, for example, a labourer, being 3 francs per day.
