Hockey among the Blues. October 1883.

Six school boys contest a game of hockey in a courtyard. Each holds a one-piece hockey stick in his right hand. The shape of the clubhead indicates that the game was based on driving the ball, not hooking it out of scrimmages. The swing is flat with the club taken back around the shoulders which would produce low rolling shots.
