Suigan (of Chuiwan). 1642
English
In a painting clearly influenced by the delicacy of Oriental art, a suigan player surrmounts a stony hillside against a fantastic backdrop of rocky outcrops. His mallet ('chawgán') has a thin red shaft running through the mallet-shaped clubhead, in a throughsocket joint, a charasteristic construction of jeu de mail mallets as used in Europe.
